Family cases in Illinois are heard in the Circuit Court, usually in the Domestic Relations Division. Divorce and custody (now 'parental responsibilities') are heard in the Circuit Court. Illinois groups counties into judicial circuits; Cook County (Chicago) is its own circuit.
