How the New Hampshire court system handles family cases

Family cases in New Hampshire are heard in the Circuit Court, usually in the Family Division. New Hampshire family cases are heard in the Circuit Court's Family Division.

The Circuit Court Family Division sits across the state's counties.

New Hampshire's highest court is the New Hampshire Supreme Court. New Hampshire has no middle appeals court - appeals go straight to the Supreme Court.

Besides the judge, a Magistrate / Commissioner may handle parts of a family case. Besides the judge, a magistrate, commissioner, or referee may hear temporary orders, child support, and uncontested matters - usually subject to a judge's review.
