Florida child support follows an income shares model set out in section 61.30 of the Florida Statutes. Both parents' net incomes go into a guideline calculation, and the Child Support Guidelines Worksheet, form 12.902(e), records the math the court relies on.

Beyond the courts, the Florida Department of Revenue runs the state's child support program, which can establish, collect, and enforce support administratively. Both official paths are linked below.

Frequently asked questions

How is child support calculated in Florida?

Through the guideline formula in section 61.30, which combines both parents' net monthly incomes, adds child care and the children's health insurance, and divides the obligation in proportion to income. Substantial time-sharing of at least 20 percent of overnights adjusts the result.

When does Florida child support end?

Typically at age 18, extended to 19 if the child is still in high school and reasonably expected to graduate before turning 19. Support can continue for a dependent adult child with a qualifying disability.
